Test riding the big bad Super Duke for a couple of laps around Road America. It ends in tears of course but the bike is certainly capable of respectable lap times if you treat it with respect.

It is hugely fast (IRL 170mph would be extremely uncomfortable on an unfaired bike!!) and the biggest challenge is keeping the front wheel on the tarmac. This thing will wheelie at the slightest provocation, and the back end will let go very quickly too. It requires gentle and progressive use of the throttle and brakes or you will end up on your ass very quickly.

Also note that it is not a sports bike and quick changes of direction are not its forte either so you need to adjust your approach and turn in for corners accordingly. As this quick 2 lap test ride shows, it's a fast bike but it will bite with only the slightest provocation. Buy it for the drag races as it destroys the competition of you can keep it under control.

For this test ride the bike was stock apart from slicks, a new paint job and the removal of mirrors and rear number plate carrier and indicators. All assists other than auto rider tuck were off - I'm sure if you used traction control and anti wheelie etc. the bike would be far more manageable but where's the fun in that?
