Holograms were first saw in the 2008 election on CNN where a news cast member projected herself into the room. Amnesty International used that tech to project a recording of marching protestors in holographic form.

With the recent discovery of turning light into solid matter it will be a little bit of time but not to long before holograms can move matter and interfere with reality and become police, military and perform recorded or controlled actions from recordings or radio/tv stations in the background for clandestine means.
