Maria Sharapova was given a two-year ban  for two years by the International Tennis Federation following her positive test for banned drug meldonium. The ban will be backdated till January so she will be able to return to competition at the start of 2018 The ITF asked for Sharapova to be suspended for four years, but the rules state that she could not be suspended for longer than two years if it were deemed that her use of the drug was not intentional Sharapova said she will appeal the decision
