Pittsburgh had the shot advantage as they outshoot the Sharks by a 41-26 margin. The Penguins were 0 of 3 on the power play and San Jose goes 1 of 2 on the man advantage. San Jose overcame a 2-0 deficit after one period as they game was tied at 2-2 after two periods. It was Nick Bonino scoring the game winning goal with 2 ½ minutes left at even strength. The Sharks have competed against many physical defensive style teams in their Western conference playoffs getting past the Kings, Predators and Blues. Now they must adjust to the speed of the Penguins. Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer commented after the game how his team failed to play their game facing the much faster team. We will see if the Sharks hit more in Game 2 as that seems to be the strategy when physical teams match up with speed.
