The International Organization for Migrants reported Tuesday that at least 1,000 people have been confirmed dead or missing as a result from last week's shipwrecks in the Mediterranean Sea. An updated account of the death toll was made from survivor's accounts who were saved at sea or in Italy. IOM cited smaller incidents after three ships capsized in the Mediterranean last week, leading Italian police to count 700 deaths.
