Hundreds of people tuned up to Cooper’s Hill near Brockworth, Gloucestershire, on May 30 for one of Britain’s oddest bank holiday traditions: the cheese-rolling race.

Dozens of competitors ran and fell and tumbled down the hill, in hot pursuit of wheels of Double Gloucester cheese.
