This was the Dining room that Galaxy Design designed curtains for. This video Steve gives some tips on the placement of curtains in the corner.

We are going to go ahead and do the corner window now. This is a tall window curtain design and whenever we are doing a corner window, we always run into what is called "the deductions" that needs to be taken from the wall measurements. These are something that your installers will need to have and the person who makes the draperies also need to have these measurements. They are very, very crucial to the job and to the way that you measure the window treatments.

So in other words, this is actually a wall right here, however though, because of the deductions that needs to be taken, this drapery rod will move over here and this other drapery rod will move over here. So this is the box that you will lose. Again, before it used to be 32 inches and now it is 26 inches. So you lost this square. That is why it is imperative that you measure these wall measurements and then the area to cover.
One of the things we did here, is we go in and this window is bigger than this other window behind me. And what I chose to do is to have this crystal drapery hardware from behind me to get pushed out to my right so we can compensate for the size of the window on this side.

For the pleating on these drapes, we needed to be starting all the way from the top and carry down. The reason why I do that is because the fabric, since it is a 3 layer of the lining and inner lining and the fabric itself, it has a tendency to move while hanging it --so by thin folding it, it allows the pleat to fall in a straight direction.

This window treatment turned out to be quite nice. I like the way it turned out, we had no problem getting the drapery hardware up because of the scaffolding. One of the challenges we ran into is that this window has an extra panel to it where this one is missing a panel. So in order to compensate for that, what I chose to do was to go in and have this drape be pushed way out so that it would compensate for the width of this window. That is one of the things that you want to do whenever you have an offset where the walls are not meeting exactly in the corner.

One way to go about doing it is just by compensating, if you have the room on either side of them, to expand the custom window treatments out so that you can have them be balanced.
