FA CUP FINAL VIDEOS: UNITED V NEWCASTLE, 1999

Manchester United 2 Newcastle United 0
Saturday 22 May 1999; Wembley Stadium
Scorers: Sheringham 11, Scholes 52

Just as it did 22 years before, a cup final featuring Manchester United was to play a big part in the story of someone’s Treble bid. But this time the men from Old Trafford were the ones gunning for a magical trio, having already secured the 1998/99 league title and with the Champions League final still to look forward to.

Unlike Liverpool in 1977, United scooped the lot and won at Wembley with relative ease, settling any nerves with Paul Scholes setting up an early Teddy Sheringham strike and then bagging his team's decisive second goal shortly after half-time.

United: Schmeichel, G Neville, May, Johnsen, P Neville, Keane (Sheringham 9), Scholes (Stam 76), Beckham, Giggs, Cole (Yorke 16), Solskjaer.
