YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, WYOMING — A wild baby bison had to be put down after tourists put it in their car last week.

A vacationing father-and-son reportedly picked up the calf while visiting Yellowstone National Park. Concerned he was dying from the cold, they put him in the back of their car and drove off to find help.

But despite their best intentions, they did more harm than good as Yellowstone rangers couldn't reunite the calf with the herd.

The calf was euthanized because it became a danger to others, as it kept wandering into people and cars, according to a news release on the National Park Service's website.
