KEY WEST, FLORIDA — A very drunk woman tried to get out of a breathalyzer test by attempting to eat her shirt, and it landed her in jail.

The Miami Herald reports that Key West police officer Pablo Rodriguez was outside a cafe around 2 a.m. when he saw a Mazda SUV nearly hit another car on the road.

Driver Zyze McCausland was told to pull over but instead cursed loudly and sped off, prompting Rodriguez to follow in his cruiser.

McCausland drove the car straight into the Horace O'Bryant school parking lot, which had only one way in and out and a police station next door. Trapped, she tried to wake the passenger in her front seat, who didn't respond and remained passed out. She then tried to flee on foot, but was intercepted by Officer Rodriguez.

At the station, police attempted to make her take a breathalyzer test, telling her not to put anything in her mouth. When officers unlocked her handcuffs, McCausland promptly stuffed the shirt she was wearing into her mouth and began chewing at the fabric. The test was canceled and she was booked into the Monroe County Detention Center, according to the New York Daily News.

McCausland told police she works as a stripper in Key West. Her charges include misdemeanor counts of drunk driving, resisting an officer, and a felony count of fleeing and eluding at high speed, with bail set at $10,500.
