Germany is to overturn the convictions of gay men who were prosecuted for their sexuality under historic laws. Homosexuality did not become fully legal in Germany until 1994 and existing convictions were never lifted. Over 50,000 men were convicted of homosexuality between 1946 and 1969 under laws that were toughened by the Nazis and remained unchanged after the Second World War.
