Astronomers have spent decades searching for planets outside of our solar system, and recently NASA's Kepler mission made its largest verification to date.

1,284 celestial bodies of interest were declared, with a greater than 99% certainty, to be exoplanets. 

More than 1,300 others, though they fell below the very high bar for inclusion in the confirmed group, are deemed to likely qualify for the distinction.
