A recently published paper by researchers at MIT and other collaborators reveals that the team has developed a new invisible, breathable, skin-like material that can diminish the appearance of wrinkles and could also become a drug delivery device.

Scientists have developed a wearable material that could make people appear years younger.

According to an MIT news release, the substance is a type of XPL, or cross-linked polymer layer, that has the ability to “temporarily protect and tighten skin, and smooth wrinkles.”

In fact, an image released with the recently published study shows an older woman with significantly fewer lines and bags under her eye treated with XPL compared to the other.

One of the team members, Robert Langer, explains how it works in a video uploaded to Youtube: an invisible polymer cream is first rubbed onto the target area, then a second white cream is placed over it to streng
