Nashik, May 09 (ANI): Unseasonal rain and hailstorm have damaged crops in Maharashtra's Nashik district. Though the showers brought respite to locals reeling under scorching heat since long, it destroyed crops of onions and pomegranates, among others. Unseasonal downpours had earlier this week lashed Malegaon, Dhule and Chalisgaon towns. Parts of Maharashtra have been facing severe drought since months. Latur and Beed regions are two of the worst hit. People have been forced to walk miles to fetch water for their everyday use. India has 17 percent of the world's population, but only four percent of fresh rain water resources are available in the country.
