Yavatmal/ Nagpur, May 01 (ANI): Protest for separate Vidarbha state in Maharashtra turned violent, as agitators vandalised scores of buses to vent out of their ire on Sunday. The protesters broke windscreen of a large number of government owned buses in Yavatmal district. In Nagpur city, political activists protested against federal ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleging that it had reneged on its promise to create separate state of Vidarbha. The protesters also unfurled a multi-colour flag as a mark of protest against the merger of the then Vidarbha region, the Central Provinces and Berar into Maharashtra on May 1, 1960. The Vidarbha region made the headlines for suicide committed by several debt-ridden farmers. People of the region believe that separate Vidarbha state would ensure development, and would solve other problems of the region.
