Srinagar, Apr 21 (ANI): A two-day 'Shikara' or boat festival on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar city is drawing tourists in large numbers. Organisers say the aim of the festival is to promote 'Shikara' ride and tourism. Dal Lake, which is described as a jewel of Srinagar, is surrounded by hills and is a very popular destination for water sports. 'Shikara' race, several cultural programmes have been organised to mark the festival. The performance by local artists and singers in 'Shikaras' itself has been widely appreciated by tourists. Kashmir was once dubbed Switzerland of the India. A Mecca for climbers, skiers, honeymooners and filmmakers is again attracting tourists.
