Japan car manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors has admitted to falsifying fuel economy data on 600,00 vehicles sold in Japan after Nissan found inconsistencies.
Normal pressure figures were inflated to bolster milage rates.
The claim has caused a trickle-down effect, dropping shares of Mitsubishi down in Japan by 15 percent.
The inaccurate tests involved 157,000 of their own cars and 468,000 built for Nissan.
Mitsubishi is Japan's sixth-largest car maker and they sold more than one million cars last year.
