Mumbai, Apr 14 (ANI): Speaking at the inauguration of Maritime India Summit 2016 in Mumbai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said maritime transport could be the most extensive mode of transport as it is one of the most eco-friendly modes of transport. PM Modi added that in the early days of his government, they had announced a ‘Sagar Mala’ project, energising coastal economy and boosting infrastructure. The PM added that he wanted to modernise ports and integrate them with SEZs, Port-based smart cities, industrial parks, warehouses, logistics parks, cold storages and transport corridors. Prime Minister Modi said his vision is to increase port capacity from 1, 400 million tonnes to 3,000 million tonnes by 2025. PM Modi on a concluding note said that investing in maritime sector is investing in the planet’s future.
