The campy, sci-fi, alien insect extermination franchise Earth Defense Force has earned itself a cult following over time, and now the series is hitting the new generation of consoles. Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair, a PS4 port of the PS3/360 game Earth Defense Force 4 (Earth Defense Force 2025 in the West), is set to release in Japan in 2015.

While details on potential improvements are scarce, the trailer looks to deliver all the bug-blasting action that has earned the series such a following. A Western release has also yet to be confirmed, as well as the possibility (or lack thereof) of releases on other platforms.
