WWE Smackdown 7 April 2016 | Thursday Night WWE Smackdown 4/7/16 highlights.
Roman Reigns is once again facing a big-time challenge as AJ Styles is coming after his title.
We’re still not done with this post-WrestleMania world and things are going to get even more dramatic on this week’s Smackdown.
The event, taped on Tuesday night from Houston, Texas, wraps up the on-screen slate of wrestling action after last Sunday’s epic WrestleMania and the WWE is intent on ending on a high note. With that in mind, it’s understandable why this week’s event is chock full of big names and even bigger matches.
After all, on Monday night alone we saw the Intercontinental Title change hands, watched AJ Styles emerge as the top contender for Roman Reigns’ Heavyweight Championship. Trust us, this is going to be one impressive SmackDown. If you don’t want to wait until Thursday, however, you can read on to check out the spoilers and results for every single match.
AJ Styles joined Reigns in the ring and reiterated that he’s coming for the title, prompting big-time cheers from the crowd. Reigns responded by, literally, patting him on the shoulder and walking away.
The Vaudevillains defeated The Lucha Dragons in their SmackDown debut. Kalisto took the pin in the loss.
Natalya beat Summer Rae as Charlotte and Ric Flair joined in on commentary. There was, of course, a post-match stare down.
The Miz once again defeated Zack Ryder to retain the Intercontinental Title, but he got some serious help in the form of his wife Maryse. When The Miz was in trouble, Maryse undid the bottom tumbuckle pad and threw it at Ryder, distracting him long enough to secure the victory.
Apollo Crews notched his second straight victory by beating Curtis Axel in a quick match.
Dean Ambrose basically destroyed Tyler Breeze – much to the joy of the crowd.
AJ Styles and Cesaro took down Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens. Sami Zayn played a big part, coming out restrained by agents and refs to distract Owens who got rolled up by Styles for the pin.
Owens and Zayn brawl after the match to wrap up SmackDown.
