Bizarre footage has emerged from China of a professional keener (professional mourner) who works nearly every day of the year, earning more than £80 GBP per hour.

In the video, captured in Chengdu, Sichuan Province last Saturday, a woman named Chen Jiying can be seen holding a microphone while she cries and talks softly about the dead.

According to local reports, Chen is a professional keener, who genuinely earns a living from crying and grieves on behalf of people.

The practice is traditional in certain parts of China.
