Villagers left thirsty in drought-hit Latur

Latur (Maharashtra), Apr 05 (ANI): People in Masurdi, Latur village are struggling everyday due to water scarcity. Some villagers have also migrated from the village. The local administration has imposed section 144 in Maharashtra's Latur fearing war over water. Talking to ANI, a local resident and an Aanganwadi teacher said the children were sent back to their homes due to unavailability of water. She added that the water provided by the government comes untimely due to which everyone is not fed with the supply. Meanwhile, another resident complained that their survival has become difficult as there is no potable drinking, adding they have to travel long distances to get water. Left with no other option, people in Latur migrate to other villages. The sarpanch of the village said the water scarcity is not the only reason rather the dried crops has added to the difficulty of the people.
