Jaipur/New Delhi, Apr 02 (ANI): Women activists called for a stringent police action and investigation in the alleged suicide case of television actress Pratyusha Banerjee. Women activist Abha Singh, on the other hand, demanded abolition of Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that lays down punishment for attempted suicide. Pratyusha Banerjee, who rose to fame with her portrayal of Anandi in 'Balika Vadhu,' was found hanging at her home in Mumbai yesterday. The 24-year-old actress was declared dead when brought to the Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri by her former boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh.
