Last night August 22 the BMI Awards (that stands for Broadcast Music Inc) were held in New York City, honoring songwriters, producers and publishers for R&B/ hip-hop songs. And no shocker here: the YMCMB crew dominated the night. Brothers and Cash Money co-founders Birdman and Slim were awarded the BMI Icon Award while DJ Khaled, Busta Rhymes, Trina and more performed at the event. Our girl Nicki Minaj snagged the highly coveted award Song of the Year for "Starships" and tied for Songwriter of the Year award with Benny Blanco. And to solidify her Queen Rapstress Title Nicki Minaj took home a total of 6 awards for her features on various hip hop tracks such as Alicia Keys "Girl on Fire" song. On top of that, veteran rapper Trina paid homage to Nicki by performing a Nicki song "Moment for Life" for Nicki! Trina even dressed like Nicki donning a similar blonde bob wig and flashy red dress. Ballsy! Nicki herself that night was dressed down from her sometimes over the top self. She looked gorgeous in a Roberto Cavalli black and gold dress and blazer with cutout tights as she proudly accepted her awards on stage. It was clear Nicki had a fabulous night hanging with her YMCMB crew, posting pics on Instagram all night long including this one with her pal Birdman and showing off her look for the night.
