Gulbarga, Mar 19 (ANI): Hundreds of dead fish washed up on the shore of a lake in Gulbarga district of Karnataka due to severe drought conditions. The lake, which is around six miles away from Gulbarga city in southern Karnataka state, is drying up due to drought this year. Additional District Collector of Gulbarga, Govind Reddy said the authorities had started to move the fish which are alive to a nearby dam. Unpleasant smell of dead fish has also made the lives of the locals difficult. The drought’s toll on Gulbarga has been measured mostly in terms of crop loss and dried-up domestic wells but it has also done damage to the aquatic life which is struggling to survive. Karnataka has been hit hard by the dry spell for the last two years, leading to shortage of drinking water, drought and crop loss.
