MACON COUNTY, N.C. – Police in the North Carolina town of Franklin are looking for a man accused of using a fishing line, scotch tape and a $10 bill to steal hundreds of dollars.\r
\r
WLOS-TV reported that the suspect has been caught on security cameras in various mountain-area convenience stores in a practice called “fishing.”\r
\r
In surveillance video, he can been seen inserting a bill into a gift card vending machine, but a short time later he pulls the bill back out.\r
\r
“Its very thin,” said Franklin Police Chief David Adams, according to WLOS-TV. “You can barely see it. Use a scotch piece of tape. Attach it to the bill. He sticks it in. It charges and then spits it back out and you keep playing over and over and over.”
