ROSELLE, ILLINOIS — 54-year-old Maryann Christy was spotted driving in Roselle, near Chicago, on the evening of Jan. 23 with a 15-foot tree embedded in the front grill of her car.

A Roselle police officer pulled her over at around 11 p.m. near Irving Park Road intersection. The officer noticed the airbags had been deployed inside her car.

Christy allegedly told the officer that she stuck the tree somewhere in her hometown Schaumburg, which is less than five miles from Roselle, but she did not recall where she hit the tree.

The police officer said Christy smelled of alcohol and she had failed field sobriety tests. She was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. She is due back in court in April.
