Tom and Jerry are fictional characters that starred in a series of early sound cartoons produced by the Van Beuren Studios, and distributed by RKO Pictures. The series lasted from 1931 to 1933. When Official Films purchased the Van Beuren library in the 1950s, the characters were renamed Dick and Larry to avoid confusion with Tom and Jerry, the famous MGM cartoon series of the 40s and 50s.\r

On a dark and stormy night, Tom and Jerry, two ambitious cab drivers, wait outside a train station for fares. When two strange men in top hats disembark from their train, the hacks solicit them until they give in and ask for a ride to their castle. When the men stiff the fare, Tom and Jerry pursue them, only to be trapped inside the castle by a portcullis. They wander about the residence and encounter a fearsome-looking bat, a bathing, whistling skeleton, a veritable army of ghosts, and other assorted ghouls and goblins. After meeting a skeletal quartet in black-face, they find the two strange men again and discover theyve been turned into skeletons as well, after which they escape the castle and run for their lives.\r
