Betty Boop is an animated American cartoon character.\r
She made her first appearance on August 9, 1930 in the cartoon Dizzy Dishes. The name Betty Boop came later; in Dizzy Dsishes she was nameless.\r

In Dizzy Dishes Betty appeared originally as an anthropomorphic French poodle. In later films Bettys floppy poodle ears became hoop earrings and her black poodle nose became a button-like nose.\r

Even though Clara Bow was given as being the model for Boop, but Betty actually began as a caricature of singer Helen Kane. The reason why Helen Kane, in May 1932, filed a $250,000 infringement lawsuit against Max Fleischer and Paramount Publix Corporation.\r
