The personal finance website SmartAsset has come out with its list of the best U.S. cities for public transportation, and Washington D.C. ranks at the top.

According to the personal finance website SmartAsset, Washington, D.C. ranks at the top of the list for having the best public transportation in the country. 
A press release notes a strong annual ridership of more than 200 million trips on the Metro subway and 130 million trips by bus; the typical commute time was also below average.
