Jat quota row: Protestors torch rail ticket counter, block highways

Haryana, Feb 21 (ANI): Protestors demanding reservation in jobs and educational institutions in Haryana intensified their protests on Sunday, blocking roads, railway services and setting railway ticket counter on fire. The protesters have blocked Haridwar-Delhi in Bahadurgarh and Delhi-Chandigarh highway. The agitation by the Jat community over reservation has severely affected railway services as 700 trains of Northern Railways have been cancelled so far. Passenger trains from Rajasthan to Haryana have been hit. 16 trains have been cancelled and routes of three others have been diverted. The operations of buses from Rajasthan to Haryana also came to a standstill as the agitation blocked the roads leading to the highway. Five protesters were killed in firing by security forces in Haryana on Saturday, taking the death toll in the Jat quota agitation to six since Friday.
