Snapchat wants more users to be interested in its Discover platform, so rumor has it that the ephemeral-messaging service is going to allow its users to subscribe directly to publishers rather than seeking them out individually.
As per a Re/code’s report, the update will have companies like BuzzFeed, MTV, The Daily Mail and others on the roster.
This subscription feature is expected to kick in sometimes this May, but it’s possible that Snapchat will shift the timeframe to accommodate the development process.
In the same vine of garnering its users interest, Snapchat might also replace the simple bare-bone logos in its Discover section with something more dynamic – a magazine-style image, for example, that illustrates each publisher’s daily highlights.
In theory, it’s expected that less-static, more-preview-like content would make users more curious and interested in tapping on brands they’d like to follow.
With this new subscription process also comes a change in how the Stories page is managed.
