Rafael Prieto Herrera, a keen skier who lives in Grenoble in the south of France, was caught up in an avalanche near the Alpine resort of La Grave on February 8. Herrara wrote an account of the incident on the ski website wepowder.

He said, “Nobody was hurt, but we had a big scare. We all had our safety equipment and had previously talked to the local guides. We were riding cautiously and didn’t risk. The mountain can be dangerous in spite of all that. Ride safe!!” Credit: YouTube/Rafael Prieto Herrera
