The inaugural season of the Masters Champions League (MCL) is upon us, starting on January 28th and ending on February 13. The matches for MCL are supposed to take place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium, both of which have hosted various major cricketing tournaments. The MCL was conceived by Grand Midwest Sports, who prime goal was to promote cricket in the region by bringing in stars and legends from the game of cricket. MCL will consist of 6 teams challenging for the first ever title. Virgo Super Kings, Leo Lions, Gemini Arabians, Sagittarius Soldiers, Capricorn Commanders and Libra Legends are the teams eyeing for glory.

The first match of the season will take place between Libra Legends and Gemini Arabians at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on January 28. The final match of the competition will be played on February 13 at the same venue as above. A total of 18 gruelling matches will take place between the six teams.

Capricon Commander will be skippered by England's Paul Collingwood,will have players such as Michael Vaughan, Andrew Symonds, Abdul Razzaq in the squad. Vaughan had been named director cum players for them as well.

Indian batsman Virender Sehwag has been named director and captain of Gemini Arabians, a squad with boasts the like of Kumar Sangakkara, Muttiah Muralitharan, Saqlain Mushtaq, Brad Hodge and Shivnarine Chanderpaul to name a few.

Libra Legends will be captained by India's maverick former captain Sourav Ganguly, Ganguly in his team will have Jacques Kallis, Brad Hogg, Graeme Swann, Shaun Tait and Ryan Ten Doeschate to share responsibility of getting them through to the finals.

Lio Lions will be captained by West Indian run-machine Brian Lara, who will be supported by former captains such as Heath Streak, Scott Styris, Brendon Taylor and Johan Botha.

Sagittarius Soldiers will be marshalled by former IPL winning captain Adam Gilchrist who have the likes of Mahela Jayawardene, Daniel Vettori, Shane Bond, Johnathan Trott and Nathan Hauritz as his troops.

Virgo Super Kings will be kinged by Graeme Smith alongside Brett Lee, Jonty Rhodes, Mohammad Yousuf, Murali Karthik, Jacob Oram and Dirk Nannes.

The MCL will give fans worldwide feel nostalgic and pleased watching former greats battle it out again in full flesh and blood.
