MESA, ARIZONA — A woman with Asperger’s syndrome, made famous from a YouTube video, was fatally shot by Arizona police.

Danielle Jacobs, 24, became an Internet sensation when she posted a video with her dog. Suffering from Asperger’s syndrome, Jacobs trained her rescued rottweiler to comfort her during her fits. The since-removed video went viral on YouTube.

According to police, Jacobs had admitted to hurting herself during fits and was making threats of the same nature on the morning of Feb. 4. Police responded to a call and arrived at her home in Mesa, Arizona, to find Jacobs brandishing a knife.

She reportedly pointed her knife at the officers, then lunged at them. The officers, who have since claimed self-defense, fired their weapons. Police say that she was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Jacob’s dog is currently under the care of her mother, who said she spoke with her daughter the night before and she seemed fine.

Both officers involved in the altercation have been suspending and an investigation is continuing.
