Syrian government forces have taken several key villages north of the city of Aleppo as they press an advance that could break a long-running rebel siege of two Shiite villages. These advances come as Russian planes carried out heavy air strikes throughout the area north of Aleppo city, with the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reporting some 270 raids since Monday morning in the region.
