Sporting Lisbon scorer Teofilo Gutierrez booked for Stealing referees vanishing spray to mark out goal celebration
Having scored, the 30-year-old jogged over to referee Manuel Grafe, and stole his vanishing spray, usually used to mark out distances for set pieces. Gutierrez appeared to empty the can whilst drawing an illegible symbol on the pitch, following his 77th minute goal. Grafe failed to see the funny side, and after handing back the canister, the Sporting forward was booked.
It can be argued that the fun of football is being sucked out of the game, by the staggering wealth and pressure canvassing the sport. A cheeky alternative from Sporting Lisbon striker Teofilo Gutierrez, landed the Colombian in trouble after scoring in the Europa League on Thursday. Gutierrez fired in Lisbon’s third as the Portuguese giants defeated Besiktas to usurp their opponents, and claim the second knockout place from Group H.
The punishment failed to quash the raucous crowd, as Gutierrez’s strike capped a second half comeback with three goals in 10 minutes, to catapult Sporting into the Europa League last 32 at the expense of the Turkish side.
