Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension se centrará en una nueva historia de una nueva familia, formada por Ryan y Emilie, una pareja de entre 26 y 30 años y su hija pequeña de 6, Leia, que sufren el tormento de un un espíritu al que le gusta mucho hacerles sufrir y jugar moviendo o tirando objetos mientras merodea por la casa. Ryan es un diseñador de videojuegos que se ha mudado junto a su familia a Palo Alto para trabajar en Rockstar Games. Su hermano Mike, vive justo a su lado.
