Chasing Yesterday is the upcoming second studio album by the English rock band Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds. Written and produced by eponymous frontman Noel Gallagher, the album is set to be released on 2 March 2015 by Gallaghers label Sour Mash Records. The album was supported by the release of two singles – In the Heat of the Moment and Ballad of the Mighty I.
Noel Gallagher first confirmed that he was working on a follow-up to 2011s Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds in August 2013 during an interview on sports radio station Talksport, stating: Ive got tons of songs left over from the last one. Im writing, putting stuff together. Yeah, Ill definitely make another [album], thats for sure.[1] In October he revealed that he was ready to start recording the album, explaining that he was just waiting now for availabilities of my band and producers in order to begin.[2]
In February 2014, former Oasis producer Mark Coyle revealed that Gallagher had written between 50 and 60 songs for the new album, which he was in the process of whittling down into an album.[3] Talking about the songs, he claimed that Noels new album is fucking great, comparing it in style to Oasis album Definitely Maybe, and describing it as seismic.[3]
Gallagher officially announced Chasing Yesterday on 13 October 2014 at a question-and-answer event hosted by Facebook in London, revealing the albums title, release date, track listing, supporting UK tour, and first two singles.
allaghers regular producer Dave Sardy was unavailable to work on Chasing Yesterday, so the album was self-produced by the High Flying Birds frontman, who stated that he enjoyed the freedom of [producing the album] but not the responsibility.[4]
Lead single In the Heat of the Moment was the final song recorded for the album.[4] Chasing Yesterday was completed by July 2014, but due to touring commitments and the reissues of Oasis albums it was held for release for several months, with Gallagher proclaiming that the wait was beginning to do [his] head in.[5]
Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr performed on the albums second single, Ballad of the Mighty I. Speaking about the collaboration during the initial announcement of the album, Gallagher stated that Hes a very enthusiastic artist and I tried to get him to play on What a Life . Hes a truly great guitarist and he has something that nobody else has. Hes amazing, a top man.[4] Gallagher has claimed that Marr arrived to record his part for the track without having heard a demo, and that his contribution helped make the song one of the best hed ever written.[6]
Hey everybody i want to do a review of Noel Gallaghers new album called Chasing Yesterday hes releasing with his band High Flying Birds. And i just wanted to that especially in the last couple of months ive really gotten into Oasis Ive always been a fan of their music but i didnt really know their deep cuts really well and i think it started with me reviewing Whats the Story? Morning Glory the reissue that came out i think it was last year and just getting into some of those songs and enjoying them. And i always thought Oasis was such a great band and this album is really one of the best albums Ive heard in a while. A lot of the times ill review an album and then delete them after i am done listening to them. This is definitely an album I am going to keep on my iPOD and keep listening to it over and over again. Its just that good And we had a couple of singles released last year to give us of what the album would contain and its kind of hard to pinpoint down with just one sound. Theres so many different sounds on here. There stuff on here thats definitely a throwback to Oasis theres stuff on here that sounds a little like David Bowie theres some stuff that sounds a little bit like something Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age would put out on an album so theres a little bit of everything and thats really where the album shines. If youre really just wanting one type of genre youre not going to find it here. Youre going to find different song writing styles, different types of guitar licks and riffs and stuff and most of t
