20 November 2015 - The Detroit Lions announced their decision to sever their 12-year broadcast relationship with WXYT. A statement released by CBS Detroit reported negotiations with the Detroit Lions failed because of the station's "refusal to be censored in talking about the team and making honest assessments on the air about this team." The station's afternoon candid and often critical host Mike Valenti was believed to be the primary source of the dispute and disagreement. Later during Valenti & Foster, Valenti confirmed the Lions demanded he be fired in addition to numerous censorship allegations. "It is absolutely true," Valenti said. "100 percent of it. And anything you hear to the contrary, I challenge."
