Hundreds of people gathered in Tehran’s Palestine Square on Sunday to protest Saudi Arabia’s execution of a prominent Shi’ite cleric, Nimr al-Nimr. Protesters burned Israel and US flags and chanted slogans against the Saudi royal family. Earlier, protesters had stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran, broke into the embassy building, smashed furniture and started fires before being ejected by police.
