The Mississippi River is as high as it’s been since the “great flood” of 1993, officials said on Tuesday, December 29, and some parts may set records. A levee breached in West Alton, north of St Louis, prompting evacuation orders for residents. And the Mississippi isn’t the only river seeing high water: Most of the streams in the river’s drainage basin are also at peak levels.
