Researchers say that parasitic nest fly infestations could spell extinction for Darwin's famous finches of Galapagos within decades.

The storied finches of the Galapagos Islands could soon be extinct, according to research from the University of Utah. 
Those finches are being threatened by the presence of the parasitic nest fly, which first appeared on the islands in the 1960s. 
Senior author Dale Clayton says, "The fly has the potential to drive populations of the most common species of Darwin’s finch to extinction in several decades.”
