In Iraq and other parts of the Arab world, there is a widely held belief that the United States is covertly aiding the Islamic State. Iraqis say they base their suspicions, in part, on videos that purport to show evidence of this alliance. U.S. military officials say the allegation is too far-fetched to merit a response.
