Ekta Kapoor is leaving no stone unturned to make her star-studded reality show Box Cricket League successful this time. She has not only roped in Sunny Leone as a team owner of Chennai Swaggers, she has also ensured that all big TV stars are part of the series. In fact, she has reportedly made it mandatory for the actors of her show to be part of it by adding a clause in their contract.
Instead of 150 actors and eight teams, this time the number of actors has been increased to 200 and there will be ten teams in total--Ahmedabad Express, Kolkata Babu Moshayes, Chandigarh Cubs, Delhi Dragons, Jaipur Raj Joshiley, Chennai Swaggers, Mumbai Tigers, Pune Anmol Ratan, Rowdy Bangalore and Lucknow Nawabs.
But will the show be able to garner the expected TRPs? It might, if the following factors work in its favour:
1. Sunny Leone: The fact that Ekta Kapoor's Ragini MMS 2 actor Sunny Leone will be part of the reality show is enough to generate buzz around the show this time. Sunny who has bought Chennai Swaggers team in the cricket league, might be able to pull her loyal fanbase to the reality show and it might just soar the ratings.
2. Cricket + celebs + controversies= winning recipe: All the 3C's are traditionally known to be TRP generators. Though fewer cricket fans are expected to follow the show than TV fans. The show has also generated a number of controversies in the previous season like Rithvik Dhanjani losing his cool, Sara Khan being accused of cheating and Ajaz Khan being thrown out of the stadium. Bigger the controversy, better the chances of a show doing well. Isn't what Bigg Boss is all about?
3. Expect fireworks between ex-flames: Former lovers Yeh Hai Mohabbatein star Karan Patel and Kamya Punjabi had first talked about their relationship in the first season of BCL, and their blooming romance was one of the highlights of the show. Kamya, the owner of Jaipur Raj Joshilays reportedly agreed to everything that Patel said during the show and their chemistry was palpable. Now that the couple have moved on in life with Karan having settled down with Ankita Bhargava, the duo might give cold shoulder to each other this time. In the last season, Divyanka Tripathi was seen cheering for her then boyfriend Ssharad Malhotra; this time she will be pitted against him in the reality show. Will the couples maintain their dignity or indulge in fireworks?
4. Time slot: This time there is a change in the timeslot of the show. BCL will be telecast at 4.30 pm on Sunday for 1.5 hours instead of the previous slot of 7.30 pm, as the producers feel that 99% of the families are at home at this time on a Sunday. The current season will kick off in the second week of February. If the makers' instinct is right, the timing might work in their favour.
