Sidi Bouzid is a deprived town south of the Tunisian capital. Five years ago it was thrust into the spotlight as the birthplace of the Tunisian revolution. On December 17, 2010, street vendor Mohamed Bouazizi set himself on fire, sparking waves of unrest that led to president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali’s ouster and the Arab Spring. But five years on, the people of Sidi Bouzid are still waiting for their post-revolutionary dreams to come true. Sandro Lutyens and Hamdi Tlili report.

A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Anna Kowalska and Elom Marcel Toble.
