PARIS — In the wake of last month's attacks on several cafes and a concert hall in Paris, a teacher teacher in France has confessed to making up a story about how an ISIS-inspired assailant stabbed him multiple times in his classroom.

A 45-year-old teacher claimed that he was stabbed Monday morning while preparing for class at Jean Perrin preschool, a nursery school in Aubervilliers, a suburb north of Paris.

According to the teacher's initial story, there were no students in the classroom at the time of the attack. A man wearing a ski mask, white overalls and gloves entered the classroom, picked up a box cutter and a pair of scissors, and assaulted him. During the attack, the teacher claimed the assailant shouted, "This is Daesh. This is a warning."

The teacher was immediately rushed to the hospital following the alleged attack, and the incident sparked a massive manhunt in the area for the runaway assailant. Hours later, the teacher admitted to making up the story, but it's not clear yet why. There is also no word yet what repercussions the teacher may face for lying to authorities.

His story, however, plays into the very real fears felt among many teachers in the country after ISIS's French-language magazine Dar-al-Islam called for its followers to attack teachers several weeks ago.
