SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — Newly released footage shows 41-year-old Texas man, Gilbert Flores, raising both arms before being shot by police on August 28. The video was released by the Bexar County District Attorney last Friday after a grand jury chose not to indict officers involved in the fatal shooting of Flores.

The first video of the incident was filmed by a bystander and made public by a San Antonio television station. In the video, a shirtless Flores can be seen in his front lawn wielding a knife, but it's impossible to hear the conversation between Flores and the deputies. Also in the first video, one of Flores's arms was blocked by a utility pole and it is difficult to discern whether or not he was armed.

The second video released last week was filmed from a different angle by another bystander, and allows us to see even more clearly that Flores did indeed have both hands up. Police say that they believe that Flores appears armed in the video.

Even in light of this new evidence that proves Flores had both arms up, there was little chance the deputies would be indicted because of a single damning soundclip that paints a particularly heinous portrait of Flores. Officers were called to Flores's home after receiving a 911 distress call from his mother, who told police her son had "gone crazy," had beaten his wife and child, and was threatening them all with a knife. In the soundclip, Flores can be heard shouting in the background and saying how he wants to commit suicide by cop.

Police say that officers attempted to use stun weapons on Flores before actually opening fire, but to no avail. According to the officers, Flores had blocked their Tasers with portable fold-up chairs.

Flores's family has filed a lawsuit accusing the responding deputies of having "executed" Flores.
