Experts from around the world embarked upon a study of the grounds of Angkor Wat, and a paper about their astounding discoveries was recently published.

Experts from around the world embarked upon a study of the grounds of Angkor Wat, and a paper about their astounding discoveries was recently published. 
The team, led by scholars from The University of Sydney, analyzed the area using in-air laser scanners and radar capable of penetrating the ground. 
Those technologies produced evidence suggesting the massive Cambodian temple complex was even larger in the past.
