ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Rasheed Albeshari and a friend were praying in Lake Chabot Regional Park when they were interrupted by a woman, who stopped to verbally bash them and their religion.
The woman, now identified as Denise Slader, began spewing hateful sentiments at them, saying the following:
"The people you tortured are going to be in eternity in heaven. You are very deceived by Satan. Your mind has been taken over, brainwashed, and you have nothing but hate. Nothing but hate!"
Salder backs down for a brief moment when a park ranger steps in to investigate the situation. However, she explains to the ranger that she feels the situation is inappropriate because she's being recorded without her permission. When Albeshari tries to interject, Slader hits him with her umbrella and pours her coffee on him.
It's not yet been determined whether the woman will be charged with battery or hate crimes. She works as a program technician in the parole division for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
